Last week, I posted about all the nasty stuff that can happen to your brushes if you don't clean them regularly. You'll definitely want to check it out because I know that you'll want to come right back here and make this DIY makeup brush cleaner spray.

DIY MAKEUP BRUSH CLEANER SPRAY

I like this spray makeup brush cleaner because you can use it every day or every few days to sanitize your brushes.  It dries quickly, so your brushes will be ready to use the next day or even later the same day if you reapply your makeup.

You don't need to use this spray every day.  You can use it once a week or only use it if you're having some breakouts to kill the germs.

If you let someone borrow your brushes for any reason, use this before and after they use your brushes to sanitize them.  I take a bottle to the theater to use when I'm applying makeup to kids because none of them have their own makeup or brushes except my daughter.

If you have acne prone skin, you might want to use this daily.  It will help kill bacteria that can cause acne.  If you have breakouts, the bacteria can get on your brush, which will just go right back to your skin when you use the brush the next time.

If you have stubborn acne that won't clear up, then your makeup brushes probably need cleaned regularly.

This simple spray makeup brush cleaner recipe has just three ingredients, so it takes about a minute to make after you gather the ingredients.

I like to start with hot water because it helps the conditioner dissolve.  Hot water from your tap is fine.  No need to heat it up or microwave it.  Actually, don't heat it up because it could be too hot for your spray bottle.

The hair conditioner helps keep your bristles soft.  I just use whatever conditioner I'm using at the moment.  I've used several brands, and all of them worked well.

The alcohol in the recipe is what sanitizes your brushes.  I prefer to use 91 percent rubbing alcohol, but you can certainly use 70 percent.  I use a higher percentage just because I use my brushes on other people at the theater.

Note that this recipe doesn't clean product of off your brushes.  You could still alter the colors of your makeup due to excess product.

If you regularly use different palettes or different colors, then you'll want to use a traditional makeup brush cleaner.  If you don't have a makeup brush cleaning board, here's an easy DIY makeup brush cleaning board tutorial.
